Solid Stone Care & Maintenance

SANTA MARGHERITA

Maintenance

All SANTAMARGHERITA® quartz surfaces used as counter tops are highly resistant to scratches, show low water absorption and are highly resistant to acid fluids normally found in kitchens and bathrooms. The surface, expecially in polished finish, does not retain dirt and is easy to clean.

SANTAMARGHERITA® quartz is a superior product made of 93% natural silica, 7% polyester resin and coloured pigments. The specific combination of these materials has allowed us to create a superior material with a wide variety of shades, grit distribution and background colours whilst maintaining superior technical qualities.

Quartz surfaces do not need to be protected with wax or sealants. For routine cleaning use a damp cloth with water and a neutral pH detergent: a good quality detergent for marble surface is ideal (it is important that the detergent has no wax content). When choosing your detergent, avoid aggressive high acid or high alkaline cleaners as these are not suitable for quartz.

We recommend the use of trivets to avoid continued exposure of SANTAMARGHERITA® quartz surfaces to sources of heat (pots, pans or hot dishes). We recommend the use of chopping boards when cutting and preparing food.

CHEMICALS TO AVOID

Avoid exposing any SANTAMARGHERITA® quartz surface to chemicals and solvents, expecially paint remover, oven cleaners or furniture strippers containing trichloroethane or methylene chloride. Keep nail polish remover, bleach or cleanser that contain bleach, laundry bluing, permanent markers, inks and oil soaps away from the surface. If any of the substances listed above come into contact with SANTAMARGHERITA® quartz surface, rinse it immediately and thoroughly with water.
CAESAR STONE

Its hard, nonporous surface makes CaesarStone simple to clean. In most cases, soap and water or a mild detergent is all that is required to maintain its luster. If necessary, apply common, non-abrasive, household cleaners such as Soft Scrub Liquid Gel with Bleach or Comet Soft Cleanser Cream With Bleach directly on a damp cloth or sponge and wipe the surface, rinsing thoroughly after cleaning. To remove adhered material such as food, gum, or nail polish, first scrape away the excess material with a plastic putty knife and then clean the surface with a damp cloth to remove any marks left behind and any residual dirt.

Please understand that HONED, TEXTURED and MOTIVO finishes will require more daily maintenance than our polished finishes. Since there is more exposed surface area with honed finishes, metal marks, finger prints and other signs of daily living will show on honed material. Most of these marks can be easily removed with little effort and non-abrasive cleaning products such as Soft Scrub Liquid Gel.

CaesarStone prides itself in providing our customers a virtually care-free surface, but as with any product, excessive abuse can harm its finish. With a small amount of care, your CaesarStone surface will look as great as the day you bought it for years to come.
HANS STONE

HanStone Quartz is easy to maintain. It is a non-porous material that is highly resistant to stain, scratches and heat. However, it is not stain, scratch, or heat proof. Following the proper care and maintenance recommended by your professional HanStone Quartz distributor or installer, to keep the HanStone Quartz surface beautiful for many years.

Routine Care & Maintenance
Simply clean with soap and water on a regular basis to keep the lustrous gloss and radiant sheen. Use warm water and a damp cloth with a small amount of non-abrasive cleaner that does not contain bleach.

Preventing Damages

Heat
HanStone Quartz is designed to be resistant to heat and can withstand exposure to normal cooking environment for brief periods of time without being damaged. Although HanStone Quartz withstands heat better than most surfacing materials on the market, all surfacing materials, including stone, can be damaged by extreme temperature changes, whether prolonged or sudden. Trivets and hot pads should be used when placing hot skillets, pans, crock-pots or other heat generating kitchenware on the surface.

Scratches
HanStone Quartz's durable surface is designed to withstand normal use. While it is resistant to scratches, cuts, and chipping, cutting directly on the quartz surface should be avoided. Using cutting boards and taking care not to drop or move heavy objects on the surface will help to ensure long-lasting beauty.

Chemical
Avoid exposing HanStone Quartz to any strong chemicals and solvents. It is important to note that some of these chemicals and solvents can be found in household items like paint removers, paint and stain strippers that contain trichlorethane or methylene chloride, nail polish removers, bleach, furniture cleaners, oil soaps, permanent markers or inks, and chemicals with high alkaline/PH levels (oven cleaners, drain openers, etc.). Avoid using cleaning products that contain oils, powders or abrasives.

Although long-term or frequent exposure must be avoided at all times, the following products may be used with short-term exposure (removing and rinsing immediately after application with water) to clean difficult stains or residues. Always handle such cleaning agents with care and rinse the applied surface with water completely afterwards.

Recommended cleaners:

  • Simple Green
  • 10x Stone Polish
  • Magic Eraser by Mr. Clean
  • Soap and Water
  • Denatured Alcohol
  • Hopes Surface cleaner
  • Rock Doctor cleaner

**All products must have all excess removed immediately after application with water and cloth. Prolonged exposure may ruin the surface of the slab.**

Chemicals to Avoid
The below list of chemicals should be avoided with HanStone Quartz; however, the below list is not a complete list, and there may be other chemicals not listed here that may damage HanStone Quartz. The effect of any chemical usage on HanStone Quartz is ultimately dependent on the type of chemical, the length of exposure, and the degree of concentration.

  • Oil soaps, bluing agents, dyes, stains, paint thinner or strippers.
  • Solvents such as acetone, nail polish, lacquer thinner, or bleach (short-term exposure is acceptable for purpose of cleaning difficult stains-based on removing and rinsing applied area within 5 minutes).
  • Chlorinated solvents such as trichloroethylene or methylene chloride
  • Benzene, toluene, methyl ethyl ketone
  • Concentrated acids such as hydrocyanic acid, hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid.
  • Chemicals with high alkaline/PH levels (pH > 10)

**If any of the substance listed come into contact with HanStone Quartz, rinse with plenty of water and follow routine cleaning procedures immediately.

Removing Difficult Spills

On stubborn or dried spills where routine cleaning procedures do not work, use a non-abrasive cleaning pad along with the following recommended cleaners:

Recommended cleaners:

  • Simple Green
  • 10x Stone Polish
  • Magic Eraser by Mr. Clean
  • Soap and Water
  • Denatured Alcohol
  • Hopes Surface cleaner
  • Rock Doctor cleaner
If gum, nail polish, paint, or other substances are accidentally allowed to adhere to the surface, they can be removed with the use of a plastic scraper or putty knife to gently scrape off the substance and by following routine cleaning procedures.
SAMSUNG

The secrets of radiant counter tops.

With a small amount of care and maintenance, Samsung Radianz™ quartz countertops can continue to look as good as the day they were installed for decades. They are scratch and stain resistant, meaning that the normal day to day activities that occurs on or near our surfaces will have very little, or no, effect. That makes them an invaluable and practical choice for kitchen or bathroom counter tops.

However, there are due precautions to bear in mind  in terms of preventing damages.

For routine cleaning
Simply wipe the surface using a clean, soft cloth or sponge with a mild dish soap diluted in warm water. Remember that the surface is naturally resistant to surface staining from cooking oils, wine, coffee, etc. In most cases, a mild dish soap and water is enough to keep Samsung Radianz™ spotless and clean. Afterwards, thoroughly rinse with clean water and dry with soft cloth or paper towels to prevent spotting. For best results, clean liquid spills and dried foods as soon as possible.

Apply a non-abrasive household cleaner and rinse to remove residue. For dried liquids, foods and any hardened marks, remove by gently scraping the surface with a plastic putty knife or a non-abrasive Scotch-Brite® pad, and then use a damp cloth to lift any residual stains and marks.
Never use cleaners containing alkaline materials.

Heat
Although Samsung Radianz™ is more heat resistant than most surfaces around the home, all stone products can be damaged by sudden and extreme temperature changes (especially near the edges). For this reason, always use a hot pad or a trivet with rubber feet when placing hot pots on the counter, to protect your Samsung Radianz™.

Scratches
Samsung Radianz™ is substantially harder than natural stone and is highly resistant to scratching. However, refrain from using knives, screwdrivers or other sharp objects directly on the surface. Never cut or chop directly on a Samsung Radianz™ surface and always use a cutting/chopping board when preparing foods.

Chemicals
Avoid using cleaners that contain bleach or an abrasive formula. Also avoid using cleaners that contain Pine oil – without very through rinsing, these products may leave behind a stubborn residue (pine oil attracts and holds dirt on the surface, eventually reducing the cleanliness of the surface and affecting its appearance). Avoid using highly aggressive cleaning agents such as oven/grill cleaners and dishwater polishing agents that have high alkaline/pH levels (pH 8.5 or higher). Avoid abrasive scrubs and cleaners that contain either soft or hard abrasive particles.
Avoid cleaners that contain xylene, toluene, potassium hydroxide or caustic soda.

Avoid exposing Samsung Radianz™ to strong chemicals such as paint removers or to furniture strippers containing trichlorethane or methylene chloride.
